Griffin Hall on the campus of Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton remains closed to employees and students pending the results of independent air monitoring tests.
On Thursday, September 6, College officials contacted an outside contractor to conduct more extensive air quality testing of the facility. The independent contractor spent approximately 6 hours on Friday, September 7 conducting simulations and taking a variety of air samples. These samples have been sent to an outside laboratory for analysis. The College expects a verbal report as to the contractor’s findings as early as tomorrow, Tuesday, September 11, and a written report by Friday, September 14.
The wing of Griffin Hall which houses the Welcome and Admissions Office, Registration and Records, Placement Testing, and Financial Aid and Veterans’ Affairs will remain closed until the College receives a satisfactory report as to the safety of the building. Until further notice, theses student service operations are temporarily relocated to the Espada Room in Moore Hall.
The College’s bookstore operations have been temporarily relocated to the game room area adjacent to Gators Cafeteria until further notice.
