TNCC is site of FBLA’s Spring Competition

Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) will host the Future Business Leaders of America’s (FBLA) Spring Competition on Saturday, March 6 at 9 a.m. at the Espada Conference Center, Hampton campus. The event is a gathering for high school students who are members of the organization at Virginia Peninsula schools. FBLA is a national organization that focuses on several areas of student development including business knowledge and skills; school and community service; leadership and promotion, and financial and social awareness.

William Travis, TNCC’s Historic Triangle campus provost and regional director of FBLA’s Thomas Nelson region, said judges from TNCC will evaluate students in several competitions taking place before the March 6 event including:

  • American Enterprise Project
  • Business Financial Plan
  • Business Presentation
  • Computer Applications
  • Computer Game and Simulation Programming
  • Desktop Publishing
  • Digital Video Production
  • Electronic Career Portfolio
  • Website Development
  • Word Processing I and I

On site at the College’s Hampton Campus on March 6, judges from TNCC will be rating FBLA participants in the following categories:

  • Business Ethics
  • Client Service
  • Emerging Business Issues
  • Future Business Leader
  • Impromptu Speaking
  • Job Interview
  • Public Speaking I and II

The Thomas Nelson Region is one of 11 FBLA regions in the state of Virginia and serves students in several areas including, Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg-James City County and Poquoson.
