TNCC Job Fair Helps Jobseekers Find Employment

Published: April 6, 2011

Thomas Nelson Community College will host a job fair from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Thursday, April 14 at the Peninsula Workforce Development Center, located at 600 Butler Farm Road in Hampton. The Fair is free and open to the public.

Representatives from many of the region’s top manufacturing, retail, finance and marketing businesses will attend to discuss current job openings, including full-time, part-time and internship opportunities. Some employers will conduct on-site interviews, so applicants are encouraged to dress professionally and bring copies of their resumes.

In addition, jobseekers may attend career success seminars at the Fair. Examples of previous seminars include:

  • Writing winning resumes
  • Sharpening interviewing skills
  • Finding federal jobs
  • Starting a business

Applicants can also find information on the TNCC program offering free employment training to adults 18-24 years who need a GED. This program, Middle College, offers free training in nursing, medical coding and billing, welding, automotive and more.

For additional information, including a list of participating companies or to register your business visit www.tncc.edu/workforce or call 757-865-5882.

Is the above a complete list of all the companies that will be represented at the job fair? If so, do you know which companies will be performing onsite interviews at the job fair?
Thanks very much.
Robin Thompson

Thank you for your question Robin. The list of employers is current. We were expecting a couple more businesses, but they had not confirmed as of 4P today. Companies usually do not automatically plan to interview prospects. It all depends on the company, the people they have staffing their booth, and the amount of interest the prospects show. Although, all will accept your resume and give you their contact information. Please visit the employer’s booth you are interested in to inquire about their interview process.
