Thomas Nelson Community College’s (TNCC) Department of Performing Arts and TNCC Players will present “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” at the Dr. Mary T. Christian Auditorium (MTCA), Templin Hall, on the Hampton campus. Performances will take place November 12-14 and November 19-21 at 8:00 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3:00 p.m. Sundays.
The musical comedy is set in ancient Rome and follows Pseudolus, a young slave who concocts a plan to gain his freedom. When his master and mistress are away, he learns that their son, Hero, is in love with Philia, a beautiful young lady. That’s when he devises a crafty plan to arrange a marriage before his master’s return in exchange for freedom. Of course, the plan is not without its kinks and Pseudolus finds himself in a series of comical situations. The Tony Award-winning production features music by Stephen Sondheim and is based on several plays of Titus Maccius Plautus.
Tickets are $15 general admission, and $10 student/senior/military (with I.D.). All tickets will be available for purchase at the door.
