The Thomas Nelson Community College Board will host a legislative breakfast on Friday, October 26 at 7:30 a.m. at the Williamsburg Lodge located at 310 South England Street in Williamsburg. The purpose of the legislative breakfast is to meet with legislators and communicate the importance and needs of the College as well as the College’s 2008-2010 legislative priorities. Expected to attend are: Senators Mamie E. Locke and Thomas K. Norment and Delegates William K. Barlow, Mamye E. BaCote, Phillip A. Hamilton, Glenn Oder, Melanie L. Rapp and Jeion A. Ward.
TNCC’s Legislative Priorities for 2007-08 are:
- Historic Triangle Campus: $5.64 million to equip the new Historic Triangle facility scheduled to open in early 2009 as part of the VCCS Capital Outlay Funding Proposal.
- Dental Hygiene Associate Degree Program: $2.4 million to establish an Associate degree program in Dental Hygiene at the Historic Triangle campus.
- Future Capital Projects:
- Academic Student Commons Building: $26+ million to construct a 78,000 square foot Academic Student Commons Building on the Hampton campus.
- Historic Triangle campus Phase II Building: $41+ million to construct second 120,000 square foot facility at the Historic Triangle campus.
