Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development continues to produce certified pharmacy technicians, an industry that is expected to see an employment increase of 32 percent over the next few years. To celebrate, TNCC-WD is hosting its annual Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 2:30 p.m. at the Peninsula Workforce Development Center conference room in Hampton, Va.
The commencement will honor 60 students that have completed professional certificate programs. The most popular program is the Pharmacy Technician Professional Certificate program. Other programs include EKG Technician, Nurse Aide Education, Clinical Medical Assistant, Healthcare Information Technology, Ethical Hacking, and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). These programs train workers for in-demand jobs in just a few months.
“After successfully completing the BPI-Energy Auditor Course and receiving BPI certification, I now feel that I have arrived, in my field and in the 21st century,” stated Donald Clanton, a 2013 Weatherization graduate who has been employed at the STOP Organization-Weatherization of Hampton Roads for more than 12 years as a Weatherization Estimator. “There was a need for me to continue my education,” stated Clayton. “The instructors were informative, the classroom setting was comfortable and conducive to learning and I enjoyed learning along with my fellow students in the classroom and in my field.”
