Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development, in partnership with World Instructor Training Schools (W.I.T.S.), will offer a one-day-a-week, fast paced Certified Personal Fitness training program at the new Historic Triangle campus located at 4601 Opportunity Way.
Classes for this affordable, six-week program are offered only on Saturdays, making it ideal for busy adults seeking to start their own business as a private fitness trainer or those seeking a quick entry into a new career field. The program begins March 20.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, there is a shortage of health and fitness professionals. Employment for fitness workers is expected to increase 27 percent over the 2006-2016 decade, much faster than the average for all occupations. Personal fitness trainers work at health clubs, universities and assisted living facilities. Some earn second incomes by working at client homes.
This nationally-recognized, academically approved certification program provides the scientific knowledge and hands on-skills needed to succeed in this field. It also includes a 30 hour internship.
