TNCC Workforce Development Offers Health Information Technology Scholarships to Healthcare and IT Professionals

Thomas Nelson Community College Workforce Development has scholarships available for healthcare and/or IT professionals to cover tuition and books for two primary courses of its new Health Information Technology Program.

The courses, Electronic Health Records Management (EHR) I and II, must be taken during spring and summer 2012. An information session will be held at 5 p.m., Monday, March 12 at the Peninsula Workforce Development Center located at 600 Butler Farm Road in Hampton.

Scholarship recipients will learn how to process electronic health records and manage patient files, charts, records, appointments as well as handle inpatient and outpatient EHR systems. Classes are held from 6-10 p.m., and the first session will be held in March. Other sessions will be scheduled as needed.

Applicants must have medical office experience, IT training or have successfully completed a Medical Office Assistant Program, or similar program from an accredited school or college. To apply for the scholarship and/ or register for the information session call 757-825-2937.

When is the next medical office assistant class for the Fall, or Winter program

Medical Office Assistant program starts at the beginning of each semester. However, there are some program courses that start later in the semester that do not have prerequisites, such as Medical Terminology II and Keyboarding. Please call (757) 825-2937 for additional information.
