TNCC’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Holds Fall Induction

HAMPTON, Va. – Thomas Nelson Community College’s (TNCC) Phi Sigma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society will host its fall 2009 induction on Thursday, November 5th. Free and open to the public, the ceremony takes place at 7 p.m. in the Dr. Mary T. Christian Auditorium, Templin Hall, located on the Hampton campus.

Virginia Keithley, director of the TRiO Program at TNCC, is the keynote speaker. Mrs. Keithley has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Christopher Newport University, and a Master’s degree in Student Personnel Services as well as an Educational Specialist degree in Counseling from the College of William and Mary. She joined TNCC in November 2005.

The program will also include Michael Uenking, the chapter’s faculty advisor, inducting new executive board members. The new officers are Geraldine Mathey, President; Shelly Mills, Vice President; Marina Roberts, Recording Secretary; Doreen Ciccariello, Public Relations Secretary; and Sara Mink, Treasurer.

This semester more than 700 TNCC students met PTK International Honor Society membership requirements. As a testament to their accomplishments, these students were selected on the basis of having at least a 3.5 grade point average and having completed at least 12 credit hours of coursework in a declared degree program.
