Thomas Nelson Community College’s (TNCC) Phi Sigma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society has its spring 2011 induction today at 7:00 p.m. in the Dr. Mary T. Christian Auditorium, Templin Hall, Hampton campus.
The keynote speaker is Garon Tate, Chapter Relations Manager for PTK. Garon works to support chapter advisors and chapter leaders in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. He has been involved with Phi Theta Kappa since his induction in 2001 while attending Chattanooga State Community College.
This semester more than 1,000 TNCC students met PTK International Honor Society membership requirements. Students were selected for induction based on having a minimum grade point average of 3.5 and having completed at least 12 credit hours of coursework in a declared degree program.
