Two new members have been appointed to the Thomas Nelson Community College Board. Joining the Board as a new representative for James City County is Ms. Carol Scheid and Mr. Christopher Stuart who will serve as a representative for the City of Hampton.
Ms. Scheid brings 25 years of experience in academic lay governance to TNCC having served as an associate secretary for Cleveland, Ohio’s Cuyahoga Community College Board of Trustees. Since retiring to Williamsburg in 2005 with her spouse, she currently volunteers for the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation and the Muscarelle Museum of Art at the College of William & Mary. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the University of Cincinnati and a Master’s Degree from Xavier University at Cincinnati.
A TNCC alumnus, Mr. Stuart is currently Vice President for Business Development of Top Guard Security, Inc. and formerly served on the TNCC Educational Foundation Board. A longtime TNCC supporter, he has a Career Certificate in Acquisitions and Procurement from the College.
In addition, the Board has elected new officers to serve as chair and vice-chair for the 2007-08 year. The elections were effective July 1, 2007. Representing James City County, Mr. Joseph Gutierrez, Jr. was named board chair while Mr. Roosevelt “Rosy” Takesian, a Williamsburg representative, was elected to serve as vice chair. The Thomas Nelson Community College Board is comprised of 14 members from six localities in the Thomas Nelson service area.
