Bank of America has been a supporter of Thomas Nelson Community College since 2014, with a total of $53,000 in grants awarded to the Thomas Nelson Community College Educational Foundation.
In past years, The Bank of America Charitable Foundation has supported the Thomas Nelson Middle College program. This program helps individuals between the ages of 18 and 24 to earn their GED, enroll in college courses, and enhance basic workplace readiness skills. Thomas Nelson began this program in 2009 to address the issue of high school dropouts on Virginia’s Peninsula. In 2015, The Bank of America grant allowed the program to expand to 20 more students than the average year, offering funding for tuition, books, and training.
Additionally, Bank of America’s Victor Branch, senior vice president, awarded Thomas Nelson a $10,000 grant in 2016 to support the “Finish What You Started” initiative. This program helps cover the cost of certification exam fees for those students in need.
Bank of America has also supported Thomas Nelson in a variety of other areas, including: a summer Robotics and Coding Camp and the Cyberlab at the Historic Triangle campus.
These programs have provided extremely beneficial opportunities to the students of Thomas Nelson Community College and would not have been possible without the support of Bank of America, and for that, we thank them immensely!
