Dr. Charles DeSassure serves as the Dean of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Division at Thomas Nelson Community College. His area of specialization is information assurance and cybersecurity. Dr. DeSassure previously served as a professor and coordinator of the cybersecurity program at Tarrant County College, Southeast Campus, with 20 years of service. He completed varies administrative duties at Tarrant County College and received the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development Excellence Award. Before his higher education career, he served ten years in Information Technology (IT) positions where he traveled nationwide addressing computer networking and security solutions for clients. Dr. DeSassure also served three years as a South Carolina public school teacher. Dr. DeSassure received an associate degree in computer technology from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, awarded a bachelor's degree in business administration management from Claflin College, completed a master's degree in computer and information resource management from Webster University, and earned a doctorate in cybersecurity and information assurance from Colorado Technical University. He has received publications and made presentations at national conferences. Dr. DeSassure is a member of the Virginia Association for Career and Technical Education, the Instructional Technology Council, and a is a platinum member of ISACA.
