  • If you attended high school in a foreign country and cannot obtain your transcript, your diploma will be accepted to show completion of secondary education. Please ensure translation if necessary. ENG and MTH placement testing will be required.

TEAS TEST NO LONGER ACCEPTED AFTER SPRING 2022 APPLICATION CYCLE

9. IMPORTANT TESTING INFORMATION FOR PROSPECTIVE PROGRAM APPLICANTS

TEAS EXAMINATION (TEST) NO LONGER ACCEPTED (AFTER THE SPRING 2022 ADMISSIONS PERIOD) – THIS IS THE LAST ADMISSIONS PERIOD THAT THE TEAS EXAMINATION WILL BE ACCEPTED

The Spring 2022 Dental Hygiene Admissions Period will be the last admissions period that prospective program applicants will be allowed to submit TEAS examination scores. During the Spring 2022 admissions period, students may opt to complete the TEAS examination or the Admission Test for Dental Hygiene (ATDH) examination. Scores for both examinations will be excepted for the Spring 2022 admissions period only, for the Fall 2022 incoming Dental Hygiene cohort.

Beginning with the Spring 2023 Admission Period, the Thomas Nelson Community College Dental Hygiene Program will only accept scores from the Admission Test for Dental Hygiene (ATDH) examination as part of the program application and selection process. Information regarding the Admission Test for Dental Hygiene (ATDH) can be found below:

Admission Test for Dental Hygiene (ATDH) – The ATDH is intended for candidates who are pursuing a career in dental hygiene and are currently seeking admission into a dental hygiene education program in the United States. The ATDH is designed to fairly and accurately understand candidate skill levels, and candidate readiness to benefit from an educational program in dental hygiene. Dental hygiene programs use information concerning candidates’ ATDH performance to inform admissions decisions. ATDH results are just one factor considered in evaluating applicant admission potential. The relative importance of each factor in the admission process is determined by each dental hygiene program. Prospective students must complete the ATDH prior to applying for the dental hygiene program. Visit https://www.ada.org/en/education-careers/admission-test-for-dental-hygiene/apply-to-take-the-atdh to apply to take the admissions test.

The first ATDH administration will open on September 1 and close on October 31 with scores being released for all administrations by December 1.

Please read the ATDH Quick Facts and official ATDH Guide. On the terms and conditions page of the application, you will be asked to confirm that you have read the Guide and agree to the rules and regulations. Keep in mind testing fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. When you arrive at the test center, the name on the IDs you present must match exactly the name on your application or you will be denied admission to the test. If you are denied admission, you will need to submit a new application and you will forfeit your previous fee.

Please note that the ATDH must be completed prior to submitting an application. For those students who are in the last application cycle that will accept the TEAS test, Admissions will coordinate your testing date and time once your application is completed and reviewed.
