Earlier this year, we were forced to cancel summer classes on base at Fort Eustis, due to long-standing problems with the air conditioning system and plans to replace it. Unfortunately, that process has taken longer than expected. The replacement project is expected to continue until September, and there will be an extended period (during the month of August) when the ed center has no air conditioning at all. This will create an environment that will be very uncomfortable and not conducive to learning during the early weeks of the fall term.
In light of these conditions, we have decided to cancel a portion of our fall class schedule at Fort Eustis. Only the classes listed below are affected by this decision:
A. 16 Week Term, 21 August - 14 December:
Course Title Section # Day(s) Time
BIO 141 Human Anatomy & Physiology I 12777 TU 7:30-10:30 pm
Note: due to lack of lab facilities on base, students in this class are required to register for corresponding lab at Hampton or Williamsburg campus
B. 8 Week Term, 21 August - 15 October:
ENG 112 College Composition II 12907 M-W 5:00-7:30 pm
ITE 120 Principles of Information Systems+ 12852 TU 5:00 - 7:30 pm
ITN 109 Internet and Network Foundation+ 12853 TH 5:00-7:30 pm
+ Denotes hybrid format classes
If you--or someone you know--is enrolled in any of these sections, please contact an academic adviser immediately to explore other options for the fall term. Other sections of these classes are available on our Hampton and Historic Triangle campuses, or on-line. Thomas Nelson's military team stands ready to assist you at our Fort Eustis office (8:00 am - 5:00 pm, M-F), and during our office visits to Langley AFB (first Tuesday of the month, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm) and USCG Yorktown (9:00 am - 4:00 pm, first and third Wednesdays of the month). We can also provide help through our location in the Veterans Service Center, located in Room 230 in Wythe Hall on the Hampton Campus. If you would like to make an appointment, call (757) 825-2938 or (757) 825-3644.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. Please note this action does not impact on-base classes during the second eight week fall term that begins in October. Registration for those courses, ENG 111 and ITN 260, will continue. We will resume a full slate of classes at Fort Eustis with the Spring 2020 term, beginning in January.
