Mobile Support

TNCC is piloting a new text message service to help students complete their degrees. A pilot study TNCC conducted found that these text messages increased the share of students that continued in college and graduated.

Throughout the semester, participating students will receive text messages from a TNCC advisor, Lakeisha Mayes, to help students choose courses that help them complete their program of study, maximize how much financial aid they receive if they apply, and connect to helpful campus resources. Lakeisha will respond individually to questions and messages she receives from students. This is a great opportunity to get personalized advising at TNCC from the convenience of your phone!

Thomas Nelson Mobile Support is a pilot program. If successful, it will grow to serve more students in future terms.

Meet your Mobile Advisor!

Lakeisha Mayes is TNCC’s mobile advisor who thrives on helping students realize success.  She recognizes the journey through higher education is not always an easy one and seeks opportunities to help students eliminate any barriers that may arise.  Lakeisha has a BS in Sociology and a Master’s in Public Administration from Old Dominion University.  She has also earned a M.Ed. in School Counseling from Liberty University.   Lakeisha believes in the power of education to change lives.  Her knowledge of degree programs, admissions procedures, transfer processes, scholarships and financial aid is a great benefit to TNCC Gators!
