Meet Presidential Ambassador Holloway Gubeli
Holloway Gubeli is among four students participating in the College's Presidential Ambassador Program for 2022-23. She serves as an ambassador at the Historic Triangle campus in Williamsburg.
Students in the Presidential Ambassadors program commit to assisting the College for 10 months by participating in events and working in various roles on campus. The program greatly benefits participants. It provides a $1,000 incentive and allows students to connect with their peers at events, which often leads to building friendships, according to Michelle Manfred, program coordinator. Participants are also mentored by the College leaders.
Gubeli selected Virginia Peninsula as a launch pad for her dream of becoming a doctor. The Grafton High School graduate enrolled at the College in the fall of 2021. Here, the health science major discusses her student experience.
Why did you select that major?
I chose health science because it best fits with my dream to be a doctor.
Why did you choose Virginia Peninsula Community College?
It is a great stepping stone to four-year universities and the wide range of classes.
What inspires you in your pursuit of higher education?
Mostly my dream to become a doctor and some of my desire to (top) my dad who has a master's degree in physics

I hope to spend one more year at VPCC then two years at UVA for my bachelor's in biology, then four at Virginia Tech for their Doctor of Osteopathic medicine program.
Would you recommend Virginia Peninsula Community College?
VPCC is a great stepping stone into most Virginia four-year (schools) and allows students a lot of flexibility in scheduling and a great support system. The staff is also kind and dedicated to students.

I am a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS).
What impact does participation in these organizations have on you, particularly as you continue your college education?
I believe that being a doctor requires the leadership skills that NSLS offers.
Are there any faculty members you want to mention for their extraordinary contribution to your experiences at Virginia Peninsula?
Michelle Alexander (assistant professor of Health, Physical Education, & Wellness) has taken countless steps to help me get where I need to be to reach my dream (of attending) a four-year school.
