Students can make the most of their Thomas Nelson experience by taking advantage of numerous resources for academic, personal, and professional improvement. Among resources is Tutor Zone at campuses in Hampton and the Historic Triangle in Williamsburg and its services are free.
The Writing Center and Math Center provide walk-in assistance for students, while Peer Tutoring offers appointments in many subjects such as biology, Spanish and accounting, to name a few. A list of courses available through Peer Tutoring is accessible online by clicking HERE. The most up-to-date service hours and contact information are also available on the webpage.
Tutor Zone Coordinator Eve Walker said students also have the option to schedule their own peer tutoring sessions online. Students register for the first time at https://tncc.mywconline.com/ using their student email address. They can log in to view the schedule at any time and make appointments. Then, they simply visit to the Peer Tutoring Center for the appointment.
Walker said peer tutors are being sought for fall 2019. Students elgible to apply are those who have taken a class and passed with an 'A'. Peer tutors help their fellow students tackle the tough parts of a class by offering advice and helpful approaches to conquering concepts. Please spread the word about this job oppportunity and direct student to the online application available here.
Walker said Smarthinking is another service Tutor Zone provides. It is free, available 24/7 and gives students access to online tutoring in writing, math, Spanish, science and career writing.
