Six Thomas Nelson students will participate in the 2019 Virginia Commonwealth University Bridges to Baccalaureate Summer Internship.
The first-year students are Elizabeth Caboy and Alanda Thomas. Second-year students are Hanna Angel, Xiomara Cuno Lavilla, Estefanie Marshall and Nathan Otto.
The students will spend eight weeks at VCU conducting research in laboratories, paired with research faculty, and getting paid while they learn new laboratory skills. The second-year students will not only guide the first-year participants, but will also present their research at a national science conference at the end of the summer.
The internship provides students with the hands-on practical experience they can't get in a classroom. The program is for students interested in pursuing a career in biomedical or behavioral science research.
