Campuses in Hampton and Williamsburg will be hubs of activity for kids when Thomas Nelson’s summer camps series begins in July. Serving elementary and middle school students, camps are scheduled through August allowing participants to explore the latest in STEM and more. Details, including links to register, are available at

The College's roster of exciting camps this year includes:

S.T.E.A.M campsCampers ages 8 – 14 can discover how to code in the Lua language while playing and designing worlds in ROBLOX®. Participants also will learn how to program a robot to overcome daily class challenges using visual and text-based programming; use their favorite game to learn the basics of modding and foundations of programming; and learn scripting and logic statements as they create mods. Campers also will learn how to use code in making their ideas become reality and create their first platformer video game using characters they choose.

Hampton – ROBLOX Coders & Entrepreneurs: July 15 – 19, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Hampton – Code Breakers:  July 29 – Aug. 2, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Summer STEM Camp: This free four-day camp will let rising middle school students unlock their curiosity exploring many space-related topics through hands-on science experiments and activities conducted in the College’s science and computer labs. The camp will include investigation of space-related topics linking to biology, chemistry, drones, computers and physics. 

Monday, July 22 - Thursday, July 25, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m., Hampton campus

Summer Tech Camp - Advanced Robotics: Campers will learn how to code their own robot. Grouped in teams, participants will learn to program a robot seeing firsthand how their program translates into action while attempting to control their robot and maneuver around obstacles. The camp is open to rising third- through eighth-graders. The camp is free to residents of the Grove community in James City County through the generous support of Dominion Energy, Kiwanis Club of Colonial Capital, the Rotary Club of the Virginia Peninsula, and the Virginia Space Grant Consortium.
