Step into the spotlight. Virginia Peninsula’s music program caters to vocalists and instrumentalists with courses in applied music and music theory.

The applied music courses offer private instruction in voice, piano, strings, woodwinds and other instruments. Virginia Peninsula’s Concert Choir presents classical, jazz, spirituals and musical theatre selections accompanied by our Steinway & Sons grand piano. You can also hone your craft with a role in one of Virginia Peninsula’s theatrical productions. The College presents a musical, play and an operetta every year.

After earning an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts with specialization in Music, embark on a career in performance or support music instruction for children. Also, consider pursuing baccalaureate studies in music, music technology, music business or music education. Virginia Peninsula graduates with a qualifying grade point average benefit from guaranteed admission to more than 20 four-year institutions in Virginia, including Old Dominion University, Christopher Newport University, William & Mary, Virginia Commonwealth University and University of Virginia.

"The best part of the program is, without question, the instructors. Every professor I have worked with has been not only knowledgeable, but passionate, especially the music professors. They love music and want to share it with their students. They encourage us to do well, and when we do, they are full of praise."
