Discover the next big thing. Considering the tremendous emphasis on scientific discoveries and technological developments in today’s society, there is a great demand for scientists and scientifically-oriented people in business, government, industry and academia.

The Associate of Science in Science at Virginia Peninsula Community College is designed for individuals interested in gaining knowledge and skills to be successful in an entry-level technical science field or to transfer to a four-year institution to complete a bachelor’s degree in a science-related field. The main focus is on training students to think scientifically and preparing them to conduct independent research at the bachelor’s degree level. During this two-year program, full-time students are required to complete two 2-semester science laboratory courses as well as additional courses of their choice to explore further optional science, mathematics or computer science courses. The program culminates with a required independent, guided research course, which allows students to work one-on-one with professors and design a research project on the topic of their choice.
