I would recommend Thomas Nelson because [the College offers] the most hands-on tutoring and advising. That is just amazing.

Caleshia Waye’s desire to make her three daughters proud drives her success. Thinking of them motivates her to work hard. The Thomas Nelson Community College Social Science major is also inspired by her mother. “My mother has always been a consistent driving force in my higher education, always pushing me to do better, be better and shoot for the stars,” Waye said.

The student advisor and 2017 homecoming queen values the hands-on instruction, tutoring services and flexible class schedule that Thomas Nelson offers. All have been essential to her success. She also values the rich student life on campus and has fond memories of the two years she spent playing softball with the Lady Gators. “I would recommend Thomas Nelson because [the College offers] the most hands-on tutoring and advising. That is just amazing. Thomas Nelson has great student programs such as TRIO. These programs help students reach their goals [ and] give students the tools to be successful and stay motivated,” Waye said.

The aspiring History and Social Science teacher is bound for Old Dominion University in the fall to complete a bachelor’s degree. She also has her sights set on a master’s degree in history.
