Kwasha Bradshaw aspires to a career in social work as a children and youth counselor. Thomas Nelson Community College is providing the jumpstart to higher education that she needs. “The main reason I chose Thomas Nelson is because it’s close to where I live. I considered going to another school but I heard a lot of good things about Thomas Nelson,” she said.
Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in human services is the next step in Bradshaw’s plan with transfer to Christopher Newport University or Old Dominion University. She is not limiting herself to Virginia upon completing college. “I’m looking into what areas of the nation provide the best career leads because I want to be versatile,” said Bradshaw. “In the field I want to enter, it’s good to spend time elsewhere and come back here because you can bring some new ideas and provide other perspectives.”
Although eager to complete college, Bradshaw participates in activities between classes with membership in the International Club and Student Government Association. The Student Life and Leadership office work-study student is also on Thomas Nelson’s Cultural Affairs Committee which consists of faculty and staff as well.
