The VPCC Education Foundation and 5K Committee would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, donors, sponsors, and volunteers who made our 2nd Annual Community Day 5K a huge success.
We had a fantastic morning on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Matteson Trail in Hampton, Virginia. Our participants, vendors, and volunteers enjoyed wonderful music, sunshine, and refreshing breeze as they connected with students, alumni, and businesses in our community. We extend our special thanks to the volunteers who helped welcome participants and special guests, managed registration, and distributed t-shirts and swag bags while our student-athletes provided water on the trail, cheered participants on, and assisted with various other tasks that contributed to the success of the event.
VPCC Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and Transformation, Steven Felker, and our special guest, Amber Price, president of Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, shared their thoughts on the significance of community colleges, and how Virginia Peninsula is crucial to our region's growth as the commonwealth moves into the future. Shortly after, the City of Hampton's Mayor, Donnie Tuck, set the race off with an enthusiastic countdown and a blow of the official race horn.
