Dual Enrollment - Finish What You Started Scholarship

2024 High School Graduates

Financial Need is NOT a requirement to qualify.

First Come, First Served

Virginia Peninsula Community College (VPCC) has created a special scholarship just for our dual enrollment students. We are very excited to offer the Finish What You Started scholarship, a last-dollar scholarship for VPCC dual enrollment local public high school graduates (must have graduated from a local public high). If you’ve earned at least 12 VPCC credits through dual enrollment, you are eligible to apply.

Last dollar scholarships fill the gap between financial aid and the full cost of college. The goal for these scholarships is to allow our students to complete two years of a baccalaureate degree with NO DEBT.

Follow the steps below under How to Apply. Get started on the road toward NO DEBT.  If qualified, you will automatically be matched to the Finish What You Start Scholarship by using the general application link below.

  • In order to qualify students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester.
  • All students MUST complete a FAFSA (Free Application Federal Student Aid) form at https://studentaid.gov/
  • Funds received cover tuition and fees ONLY. Books/e-books are not included.

When to Apply

The scholarship application will open October 1 through November 30. A limited number of spring scholarships are available.

The majority of scholarships are awarded from April 15 through July 31. Most scholarships are an annual commitment for both the fall and spring semesters. However, the Foundation generally has some limited scholarship funding for the spring and summer semesters.

Eligibility

A minimum 2.0 GPA is required to receive and maintain a scholarship award unless otherwise specified in the scholarship criteria description. A student must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) to be eligible for scholarship assistance. If you are in default on any student loans, you will not be eligible for any scholarships. The Foundation reserves the right to adjust scholarship award amounts, as well as to revise the number of scholarships offered, without notice.

Foundation scholarships may be used towards tuition, fees, books, and supplies.

For additional information, contact the VPCC Foundation at foundation@vpcc.edu or by phone at (757) 825-2719, or visit us at the Hampton campus, Hampton III Building, Suite 725.

Withdrawal Policy

In order to be eligible for continued scholarship assistance, students must complete courses during the semester for which the scholarship is awarded and maintain GPA requirements. Students who withdraw from classes will not be eligible for a renewable scholarship to continue in subsequent semesters (i.e., a scholarship that is awarded in the fall and divided equally between the fall and spring semesters). Exceptions may be granted to the withdrawal policy. These exceptions will be based on individual circumstances. Requests for an exception must be submitted to the Educational Foundation in writing prior to the beginning of the next scholarship award period. Submission of a request for an exception does not guarantee that an exception will be made.
