Alma Avelar

Alma Avelar, who lives in Mechanicsville resident, is a licensed practical nurse in the long-term Acute Care Hospital at Vibra Hospital of Richmond. She has accepted a position as a registered nurse in the emergency room at Forest and Henrico Doctors' Hospital to become trauma certified registered nurse and work as a flight nurse. She enrolled at VPCC in spring 2020 to pursue an associate degree of Applied Science in Nursing. She plans to attend a four-year school beginning spring 2024 to earn a B.S. in Nursing. She is co-secretary of Student Nurses’ Association and is married to Ruben Cubero III.
