Employee Assistance Fund
In 2010, the Thomas Nelson Community College Educational Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors established a fund to financially assist current full and part-time Thomas Nelson faculty and staff with bona fide emergent situations that may occur, including payment of utility costs to avoid disconnection, medical bills not otherwise paid or reimbursed by insurance, housing costs to avoid possible eviction, expenses surrounding the death of an immediate family member, and other necessities such as food, fuel and transportation. Emergency assistance grants may provide up to $250.00 per request. Current employees are limited to one request in a six (6) month period and up to four (4) requests in a two-year period. Funded entirely with charitable contributions from generous donors, these funds, as available, have supported many Thomas Nelson employees through the years. A current employee is eligible to apply for emergency assistance after having been employed for at least three (3) consecutive months in a regular, full-time or part-time position. To apply, please complete the attached emergency application and return the signed memo and form to the Thomas Nelson Foundation Office located in Suite 725, Hampton III. For more information about the fund or application, please contact Cynthia Callaway, Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Executive Director, Thomas Nelson Educational Foundation, Inc. at callawayc@tncc.edu or 757-825-3547.
The Thomas Nelson Community College Educational Foundation, Inc. is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. Contributions to the Foundation’s Employee Emergency Assistance Fund are 100% tax deductible.
