Come hear about how far we have come and plans for the final year of implementation. The steering committee leaders will discuss our work so far, define the tools and monitoring systems to continue to promote the concept of Shared Governance, and solicit participation on the 2023-24 steering committee.

Emergency Response Basics

*During this session, participants will be very active and should wear comfortable clothing

This session is delivered by our Fire and Emergency Medical Services Education Department faculty. Learn the basics of bleeding control, how and when to use an Automated Electronic Defibrillator, and hands only CPR.

To succeed in today’s workplace, you must be an effective communicator, a skill that can be learned and refined. In this seminar, we will discuss how to find the focus and goal of any conversation, and share tips for avoiding common communication pitfalls.

Lunch ‘n Learn: Green Zone Training from Military & Veterans Services (MVS)
@Hampton IV Multipurpose Room 4136; in-person attendance is limited to 30 participants; no virtual option is available; this session will be offered multiple times throughout the fall semester.

*Lunch provided by Military and Veterans Services.

Participants will earn “Safe Zone” designation for students to discuss military/veteran related issues at the College. The session will cover:

  • Statistics for service area and the College;
  • Do’s and Don'ts of working with the military population;
  • Concerns that could arise in the classroom and office;
  • PTSD and TBI (presented by VA doctors from the Hampton VA Medical Center).

Lunch ‘n Learn: Managing Priorities to Maximize Your Day

Does the day seem to fly by before you've finished anything on your to-do list? If time management is so easy to do on our own, then why do we feel overwhelmed? In this session, participants will develop a basic explanation of the time-management process, learn the characteristics of effective time managers, talk about the importance of prioritizing big events, and explore the role of delegation and communicating delegation requests with others.
