Students are required to utilize online self-services to withdraw from classes. Please access MyVPCC and select VCCS SIS: Student Information System. It is imperative to observe the deadline dates when dropping a course. You may access the deadline dates by navigating to your Student Center and selecting your class schedule. Under the heading "deadlines," select the Academic Calendar Deadlines icon to view the deadline dates for the class you wish to drop. If you wish to drop the course for a refund, you must drop the course by the "Drop - Delete Record" date. The course will not appear on your academic transcript and you will not incur tuition charges for the course.
If you wish to drop the course for a grade of "W," you must drop the course by the "Drop with Penalty" date. The course will appear on your academic transcript with a grade of "W." The grade of "W" does not carry grade point average (GPA) credit but counts as an attempt for purposes of repeating the class. You will incur tuition charges for the course.
The final day you may drop the course is the "Drop with Greater Penalty" date. A grade of "F" (college level/non-developmental courses) or "U" (developmental/pass-fail courses) will be assigned to the course and will appear on your academic transcript. A grade of "F" received in a college-level/non-developmental course will negatively impact your grade point average (GPA). You will incur tuition charges for the course. You will not be allowed to utilize online self-services to drop a course after the last day to drop with a grade of "W." You must submit a completed student enrollment form, by the deadline date, to the Office of Admissions, Registration, and Records. The form may be faxed to (757) 825-2763 or emailed to registration@vpcc.edu.
All financial aid recipients are encouraged to speak with a financial aid counselor before withdrawing from classes. If you are a Veterans Affairs benefits recipient, you may have a hold placed on your record which prevents you from withdrawing from class. You must speak with a Veterans Affairs counselor or contact the Office of Veteran Services before withdrawing from classes.
