College Planning

Planning at the College is built around the concept of institutional effectiveness. Institutional Effectiveness is a systematic, evidence-based process for setting goals and outcomes for the institution, its academic programs, and its essential units, and evaluating the extent to which it is achieving those goals. The process consists of two primary cycles – a multi-year cycle of mission review and strategic plan development, and an annual cycle of evaluation and review of outcomes and indicator data from across the College. The components of this process, visualized below, allow the College to evaluate its effectiveness in meeting its mission in a manner that is data-informed, comprehensive, and systematic.

The ultimate purpose of these planning and assessment efforts is to facilitate continuous improvement of the College’s programs and services and further the mission of the institution.

Strategic Planning

The College’s current strategic plan, Thrive 2027, was established in 2021 and outlines the six most critical areas of focus for the institution for the 2021-2027 timeframe:

  1. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  2. Instructional Innovation
  3. Powerful Partnerships
  4. Modernized Marketing and Recruitment
  5. Employee Investment and Development
  6. Transparent and Authentic Communication

At the core of the plan is a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion across all strategic initiatives and improvement efforts. The infusion of diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout these strategic goals will advance the College’s mission and further realize our vision for broader and more equitable service to our students and community.

Additional details regarding the development of Thrive 2027, as well as the more specific objectives the College seeks to achieve by 2027, can be found in the full Thrive 2027 planning document.

Annual Planning and Action Steps

For each year of the Thrive 2027 plan, the College will commit to specific strategies that are organized under the framework of the strategic plan and its six goals. By prioritizing its strategies in a way that builds foundational capacity and then implements more significant changes and improvements, the College seeks to ensure its strategic goals are achieved in a thoughtful and methodical manner. Unit Action Plans for 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 can be found below. Comparable documents for the remaining years of the plan will be added once they are completed.
