Brandie Weaver: Assistant Director, Military and Veteran Services
Her job is to ensure you are receiving the best service possible and your enrollment is submitted promptly to the Veterans Administration, all while keeping the College in compliance with complex VA regulations. From Richmond, Brandie earned her Master's in Business Administration from Strayer University, and a Bachelor's of Science (major in psychology and minor in Spanish) from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has worked in higher education since 2004 and has been working with military and veteran students since joining Virginia Peninsula Community College in 2014. Brandie is not directly connected to the military, but she has an extensive family history of military service and a passion for serving the military student population.

David Lannon: VERITAS Liaison
David is retired Navy and assists with all educational needs. David is from Willimantic, Connecticut. Prior to coming to Virginia Peninsula Community College, David worked as an academic adviser at South Mountain Community College (Phoenix), and as an academic counselor at the University of Phoenix. David served 20 years in the U.S. Navy as a musician, playing clarinet and saxophone. Stationed in Guam, Italy, Florida, Virginia, and Washington, David traveled the world representing the Navy and promoting good will. Before entering higher education, David worked in a variety of jobs, including audio engineer, substitute teacher, and assistant front-end manager for Fry's Food & Drug (a subsidiary of Kroger). David earned a bachelor's of science in business from the University of Phoenix. He has completed certification from Southwest Institute of Healing Arts in life coaching and advance life coaching. He has worked as an academic adviser for the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and ABHS (Arts, Business, Humanities and Social Sciences) divisions at the Historic Triangle and Hampton campuses for Virginia Peninsula Community College.

Kathy Carbaugh, Military & Veteran Services Advisor
Kathy is a military spouse and was an Army dependent, and has extensive knowledge of VA education benefits. She assists with VA education benefit needs, concentrating on ensuring requests are reviewed and certified to the VA in a timely manner. She can answer certification-related questions on a drop-in basis. Kathy used both MyCAA (My Career Advancement Account Scholarship) and the Post 9/11 transfer of benefit to start school at a mature age and graduated in 2013 with associate degrees in photography and graphic design.
